DIN EN 1063 differentiates between «non-splintering glass (NS)» and splintering glass (S). Non-splintering glass is generally used where people are likely to be in the immediate vicinity of the glass.

Security classes

The security classes have been divided according to the different types of weapon, whereby they are differentiated by the bullet weight andvelocity. The relevant security class is achieved if no bullets penetrate.
